Polycarbonate is a plastic used in the fabrication of various items, such as screens, and glasses for sports or safety.

PCL4 liquid dyes are suitable for the coloration of non-coated polycarbonate lenses, by dipping. They are easy to use, the process is fast and allows to obtain even colors.

Follow the steps below to dye your polycarbonate lenses:

  • To prepare the coloration bath, heat water at 85°C.
  • When the water reaches the right temperature, add the dye into it. Pour 1 volume of liquid dye for 9 volumes of water (100mL for 900mL of water).
  • Mix the solution to dilute the dye and then, leave the bath stabilize for a few seconds.
  • Then, dip your lens in the bath, and agitate slowly during the coloration.
  • Continue for 2 to 20 minutes, according to the intensity of the color that you wish to obtain. The longer you will dip your lens, the stronger its color will be.
  • Take your lens out of the coloration bath and rinse it immediately with warm water.

You can make your colorations by choosing among the 12 standard colors available, or by creating your own tints. Our PCL4 liquid dyes are miscible with each other. Therefore, you can create an infinity of colors by mixing them.

To create a specific color:

  • Choose several PCL4 liquid dyes among our range of 12 standard colors.
  • Adjust the proportions to use according to the tint that you want to get (for instance: 60% for the color A and 40% for the color B).
  • Stir the dyes well in order to get a new color.
  • Then, use the same tinting process that was explained before, to color your lens.
