A chaque matériau, son colorant spécifique : la gamme se répartit en quatre catégories chimiques distinctes :
- Colorant dispersé : matières synthétiques : polyester, plaque ou bâton (le polyester est aujourd’hui, la matière la plus utilisée au monde pour la réalisation de boutons et bouclerie), nylon.
